Paul Freytag
Paul Freytag (* 1873 in Haspe ; † 1954 ) was a German painter and draftsman .
Life
Paul Freytag was born in Haspe in 1873 . Freytag received his academic training at the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin. There he was a student of Paul Friedrich Meyerheim, among others . After the First World War he settled temporarily in Düsseldorf and in 1926 moved to Berge , his final place of residence.
Freytag sold his works to both art lovers and museums. He found the motifs of his works of art in his home environment. Freytag, who was a passionate hunter and had his hunting area in the Börsteler Forest , captured the landscape and fauna in his pictures. He was a long-time employee of several hunting magazines.
Freytag was good friends with the Artländer artist Karl Allöder .
The artistic creation and legacy of Freytag belongs primarily to landscape painting , furthermore to animal painting .
