Paul Joannides (psychoanalyst)

Paul Joannides (* 20th century) is an American author, public speaker and research-based psychoanalyst living in the northwestern United States .

Joannides completed his studies in psychology and his doctorate in Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology) at the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute at the University of California, Berkeley , where he worked until 1998.

He is the author of The Guide to Getting It On , a sex education textbook first published in 1996 , which is used in schools and medical schools for sex education courses in the United States and Canada. It was illustrated by comic artist Dærick Gröss, Sr. In the United States, the 6th edition appeared on January 20, 2009, and was updated in January 2011. The Guide to Getting It On has been translated into 13 languages: Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Croatian, German ( Wild Thing: Sex Tips for Boys and Girls ), Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Serbian and Slovenian .

Joannides is also the founder and presenter of 90 Seconds on Sex , a daily radio feature about sex in science, medicine and psychology.

Joannides served on the editorial board of the American Journal of Sexuality Education from its inception through 2010. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Journal of Sexual Medicine . He also writes a blog for Psychology Today magazine. He also speaks at universities, including being a keynote speaker at the 2010 CFLE / Planned Parenthood Sexuality Educator Conference and a speaker for the NCAA Health and Safety Public Grant for college athletes in the field of human sexuality.
