Life

As an orphaned boy at an early age, a university course was not possible for him; instead, at the age of 20, he became a teacher in Frankfurt am Main at the newly founded Suchay-Mittelschule, a secondary school . He died on August 28, 1923 in Frankfurt am Main.

numismatics

Since 1880 he has published numerous numismatic treatises, partly as an essay and partly as a monograph. The topics dealt with concern primarily the medieval and early modern numismatics of the Rhineland. He also published a number of coin finds. In 1899 he founded the monthly Frankfurter Münzblätter at first in the publishing house of the Münzhandlung Heß Nachf., Only to continue them two years later as a publisher under the title Frankfurt Münzzeitung . In 1921 this had to be discontinued for reasons of age and as a result of high inflation.

His extensive collection of coins from the Palatinate was put up for auction in 1910 and 1912.
