Paul König (Author)

Paul König (* 1933 in Baden AG ) is a Swiss high school teacher , writer and translator .

He grew up in Baden and studied history, German and philosophy in Basel. König taught at various middle and district schools in Switzerland. From 1973 to 1980 he sat on the Aargau Constitutional Council in the Social Democrats' group without belonging to their party.

Paul König deals with the history of churches and religions in his writings . In 1966 he published Switzerland in the Light of Historiography , his most widespread work. In 1993 he published his autobiography Portrait of a Generation: My Way to the Contemporary: Memories, Thoughts, Encounters. He also paid tribute to the right-wing conservative intellectual Gonzague de Reynold in several writings. Paul König was friends with Gonzague de Reynold.

König has been a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1998 .

In 2013, König handed over a handover with documents on literary work and correspondence from the Burgerbibliothek Bern .
