Paul Kohlmann (born February 7, 1894 in Schöneberg near Berlin; † October 17, 1956 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ) was a German craftsman (grinder) and politician (KPD).

Life

Kohlmann attended elementary school. Then he learned the craft of grinding. After the First World War , Kohlmann joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). For this he was elected in September 1930 as a member of the Reichstag for constituency 3 (Potsdam II) , to which he belonged until July 1932. After the founding of the unified association of metal workers in Berlin (EVMB) in November 1930, Kohlmann occupied a position on the inner committee of this communist union. The EVMB is considered to be the first independent “red association” of the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition (RGO). Kohlmann took over the management of the EVMB operating sections in the Siemens group, where he worked as a grinder for years. In addition, he became head of the Berlin-Nordwest association district (Spandau, Siemensstadt). The machine fitter Walter Kautz replaced him in this position at the beginning of 1931. The office of Kohlmann in the Siemens works was taken over by Alex Meyer at the end of 1931. After Kohlmann was no longer represented by the KPD in the Reichstag elections in 1932, he is said to have withdrawn from political and trade union work. During the Nazi regime, Kohlmann, who had been married since 1941, was arrested repeatedly. After the end of the war he lived in Berlin (West).
