Marian van de Wal (born January 21, 1970 in Vianen ) is a Dutch - Andorran singer and hotel owner .

biography

Born in the Netherlands, she moved to the Andorran town of L'Aldosa in 1999 , where she opened a hotel. In 2004 she took part in the casting show Eurocàsting. In the final on December 14th, she was tied with the singer Mar Capdevila in first place, but was nevertheless chosen as the winner, because the youngest member of the jury gave her the award according to the rules. As the winner, she should be the second representative of Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest , which took place in Kiev in 2005 . In a separate broadcast she presented three titles: No demanis , Dona'm la pau and La mirada interior , the latter being the winning title.

At the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, she presented the song in the semifinals, where she reached 23rd place with 27 points (ten from Spain and seven from the Netherlands) and thus did not qualify for the final. To date, it is the second highest score that Andorra has achieved in the competition. Anabel Conde was one of her backing singers . The English and Catalan versions of La mirada interior were released as a single, but this had only moderate commercial success.

She later composed a few tracks with guitarist Oriol Vilella, including the single Waiting , which was also not a great sales success. She announced the Andorran points at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest .
