Paul N. Rylander

Paul Nels Rylander (born May 28, 1920 - April 27, 2000 in Lakehurst , New Jersey ) was an American chemist.

Rylander holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from Indiana University . He was a post-doctoral student at Harvard University and the University of Rochester . From 1956 to 1972 he headed the Organic Reactions Department at Engelhard Industries in Murray Hill , New Jersey.

He dealt with organometallic catalysis in organic chemistry and wrote some standard works on it.

He is honored with the Paul N. Rylander Award , which Rylander was the first to receive in 1988.
