Paul Posch

Paul Posch (born May 27, 1926 in Vienna ; † March 30, 2000 in St. Veit an der Glan ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and state official. Posch was a member of the National Council from 1984 to 1990 .

education and profession

After completing compulsory school, Posch graduated from a commercial school and passed the high school diploma at the Bundesrealgymnasium Klagenfurt. He also passed the state accounting examination. Posch initially worked as a commercial clerk in accounting and finance in Vienna and from 1945 worked as a contract employee or state official for the State of Carinthia. From 1968 he worked as a budget and court clerk in the state finance department of the office of the Carinthian state government. Posch was the secretary of the state finance officer and in 1968 became administrative director and member of the board of directors of the Klagenfurt regional hospital. Posch was awarded the title of Government Councilor.

Posch began his political career in 1968 as deputy chairman of the staff representation of the Carinthian state government and represented the SPÖ from 1976 to 1984 in the Klagenfurt municipal council. Within the party, he also held the function of a member of the SPÖ state party executive and was a member of the district committee of the SPÖ Klagenfurt-Stadt and chairman of Section 23 of the SPÖ Klagenfurt-Stadt. Posch represented the SPÖ in the National Council between May 10, 1984 and May 18, 1990. He also served as a member of the state board of the public service union and was vice-president of the European Association of Hospital Managers.
