Paul Schubert

Paul Schubert (born October 30, 1963 ) is a Swiss classical philologist and papyrologist .

After studying at the Universities of Geneva , Oxford and Heidelberg , Schubert was assistant professor from 1993 to 2004, and later full professor of Greek language and literature at the University of Neuchâtel . He also held regular papyrology courses at the University of Geneva. In 2004 he was appointed full professor of Greek language and literature to succeed André Hurst .

Schubert's research focuses on papyrology and Greek literary studies. He was visiting professor at the Universities of Lausanne , Bern , Basel and Moscow and was Secretary General of the Fédération Internationale des Associations d'Études Classiques (FIEC) from 2004 to 2019 . In 2019 he was elected President of the Association Internationale de Papyrologues .
