Paul Walter , pseudonyms: Guido von Fels , Viktor Felsen and Viktor von Felsen (born September 9, 1859 in Glatz ; † 1918 (?)) Was a German writer who was best known for his numerous colportage novels .

Life

Paul Walter was born in Silesia, but grew up in the Saxon Ore Mountains with his grandparents in Annaberg . There he also attended the community and secondary school before he went to the secondary school in Freiberg . He then went to Berlin and was later hired as a seaman. He made several long voyages and then worked as a businessman. In 1886 he began with scientific studies, he was particularly interested in ethnology.

From 1888 to 1898 Paul Walter devoted himself to colonial research. He lectured and for several years published the Nightingale Society's announcements for Africa. During this time he published numerous scientific articles in magazines. Subsequently, he devoted himself only to freelance work as a writer, after he had successfully started in 1895 to write colportage novels, which mostly appeared in large numbers.

He died of the consequences of a traffic accident at the end of the First World War. Even after his death, several of his novels appeared in reprints, for example his novel Karl Stülpner and Johannes Karaseck the daring game shooters of the Saxon-Bohemian border forests and Countess Charlotte Kielmannsegge the mistress of Napoleon in the Mignon-Verlag GmbH Dresden in 1928 .
