Paul Wiese (composer)

Paul Wiese (born June 10, 1894 in Braunschweig , † December 11, 1977 in Pirna ) was a German composer .

Life

Paul Wiese was born on June 10, 1894 in Braunschweig (Germany), but grew up in Posen , where he was musically influenced by Polish folk culture. In 1913 Paul Wiese began studying music at the Braunschweig Conservatory and later graduated from the Dresden Conservatory. He worked as a conductor and accompanist in Chemnitz, Erfurt and Dresden. In 1928 Paul Wiese began additional studies in church music with Hans Joachim Moser in Berlin, which he finished in 1932. He later moved to Pirna and lived and worked there for the rest of his life. Paul Wiese died on December 11, 1977 in Pirna.
