Paula Begoun (born November 14, 1953 in Chicago ) is an American cosmetics entrepreneur and non-fiction author . She developed and sells the “Paula's Choice” cosmetics brand. In the United States she is also known under the name "The Cosmetics Cop" (currently The Cosmetics Cop).

Life

Paula Begoun suffered from acne as a child . Treatments with medically prescribed products available on the free market did not show any improvement, they said.

Begoun started out as a freelance makeup artist and saleswoman for makeup and skin care products in the 1970s . At the age of 25 or 27, Paula Begoun began researching herself - especially the ingredients in facial care products. She has published her results since the 1980s in 20 books that have made her a successful beauty author. In 1981, Begoun opened her own cosmetic stores in Seattle and produced consumer reports for television. She also appeared on American TV and radio programs, for example on Oprah Winfrey or on CNN , to present her findings.

Since 1995 she has been selling cosmetic products under the "Paula's Choice" brand. This contains cosmetics and skin care products. Paula's Choice products should be free from fragrances, dyes and irritating ingredients. According to the company's own information, the products are manufactured without animal testing. Paula's Choice has also been selling a line for men since 2014. After success in the American and Canadian markets, Paula's Choice expanded to Europe.
