history
The Paulan monastery Wranau, founded in 1633, was built in its current form in the course of the 17th century and is located on a hill above the town of Vranov. The early baroque monastery church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary ( kostel Narození Panny Marie ) was donated by Maximilian von Liechtenstein and his wife. The royal family had their ancestral castles in the South Moravian towns of Eisgrub and Feldsberg until 1945.
The monastery church was built to designs by the Italian architect Giovanni Giacomo Tencalla in the years 1621–1630 and is still an important pilgrimage church today .
