Etvin Pauli Carl Jørgensen (born December 4, 1905 in Frederiksberg ; † October 30, 1993 ibid) was a Danish football player and club manager who was active as a center forward nationally and internationally. With 47 appearances for the Danish national team (1925 to 1939) he was a record national player from 1939 to 1961 for over 22 years and with 44 goals he is still third in the list of record scorers.

Football career

Jørgensen began his career with the Danish football club Boldklubben 1908 (B 1908) in 1916, but moved to BK Frem København in 1918 . He played 283 games between 1924 and 1942 for Boldklubben Frem and was Danish champions with the club in 1931, 1933, 1936 and 1941. He won the Danish Football Cup with his team in 1927, 1938 and 1940. In the 1936/37 season he was leading Jørgensen has the 1st Division goalscorer table with 19 goals.

Internationally, Jørgensen played 47 games for the Danish national team, including 12 as captain. Between 1925 and 1939 he scored 44 goals, making him third among the top scorer in the Danish national team by 2011. In addition, Jørgensen played in around 75 games for the Copenhagen national team Stævnet .

In 1942 Jørgensen ended his active career and coached BK Frem København from 1943 to 1945. In 1944 he won the Danish championship as a manager for Frem. From 1947 to 1948 he went to Norway as a coach of the Ski-og Ballklubben Drafn .

Pauli Jørgensen was honored in 1971 as the most important Danish football player for football during the first 50 years of the Dansk Boldspil Union (DBU). In the 1980s, he was named the oldest active footballer in Denmark in the Guinness Book of Records . Pauli Jørgensen died on October 30, 1993.
