Paulus Church

The Protestant Paulus Church is a church building that characterizes the townscape in Werl in the Soest district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

In 1965 the Evangelical Church Community had grown to 4,345 members. The previously used Johanneskirche became too small. The foundation stone for the new church was laid on July 24, 1964, and it was consecrated on the fourth Sunday of Advent in 1966. The plans come from the architect Ernst Dossmann. The simple reinforced concrete skeleton body creates a clear structure in the interior without any mystifying effects. Only the altar area is highlighted by the artistically designed windows with special light. The side of the altar in the interior is made of green sandstone. Until 1994 there was only a steel bell in the single bell tower. It was replaced by five bronze bells (strikes: d ", f", g ", a", b "). The tower was renovated in 1993.

organ

The first organ, built by the Werler organ building company Stockmann , came from the Johanneskirche . But although the instrument was undersized for the new, larger church interior, a new organ could not be bought until 1990. It was built by the Eule company from Bautzen. The slider chest instrument has 28 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The stop action is mechanical and electrical (double action), the game actions are mechanical. The instrument has the following disposition :
