Pauri is a small town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand .
The city is the capital of the Pauri Garhwal district . Pauri has the status of a Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 11 wards . It had a total of 25,440 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 13,090 were men and 12,350 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of approx. 91%, followed by Muslims with approx. 7%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 78.82%.
The region has a temperate climate that remains moderate all year round. The climate in Pauri is very cold in winter and snow falls in the region in the months of January or February.
