The district of Pauri Garhwal ( Hindi : पौड़ी गढ़वाल ) is a district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand . Pauri Garhwal was created in 1960 by dividing the Garhwal district. The district administration is based in Pauri .

geography

The Pauri Garhwal district is part of the Garhwal division in the west of Uttarakhand in the Front Himalayas and also includes the outermost Siwalik range on the edge of the Ganges plain . Pauri Garhwal borders the state of Uttar Pradesh in the south . Neighboring districts within Uttarakhand are: Nainital in the southeast, Almora in the east, Chamoli in the northeast, Rudraprayag in the north, Tehri Garhwal in the northwest, Dehradun in the west and Haridwar in the southwest. The area of ​​the district Pauri Garhwal is 5329 km². In the northwest, the Alaknanda and Ganges rivers form the district boundary . The city of Srinagar is located on the east bank of the Alaknanda.
