The district of Pithoragarh ( Hindi पिथौरागढ़ जिला ) is a district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand . The seat of the district administration is Pithoragarh .

The Pithoragarh District is located in the Kumaon Division in the northeast of Uttarakhand in the Kumaon Himalayas . Neighboring districts are Chamoli , Bageshwar and Almora in the west and Champawat in the south. In the east, the Pithoragarh district borders on Nepal . The course of the Kali river forms the border. In the north, the watershed of the main Himalayan ridge forms the border with the Tibet Autonomous Region .
