Pavel Šivic

Pavel Šivic (born February 2, 1908 in Radovljica ; † May 31, 1995 in Ljubljana ) was a Yugoslav or Slovenian composer.

Šivic studied from 1931 at the Ljubljana Conservatory with Janko Ravnik and Slavko Osterc , then at the Prague Conservatory with Vilém Kurz , Josef Suk and Alois Hába . Since 1939 he has lived as a composition teacher at the conservatory, concert pianist and accompanist in Ljubljana.

In addition to five operas , an operetta and a ballet , he composed numerous pieces for piano and various other instruments, a twelve-tone suite , cantatas , choral works, songs and film scores.
