Pavel Štěpán
Pavel Štěpán (born May 28, 1925 in Brno , † September 30, 1998 in Prague ) was a classical pianist.
Life
Štěpán continued his family traditions in his artistic career. He was the grandson of the piano teacher Vilém Kurz , son of the piano virtuoso and piano teacher Ilona Štěpánová-Kurzová and the composer, theorist and pianist Václav Štěpán . The family maintained close relationships with the composer Josef Suk and was able to follow his personal instructions when performing his piano works.
Štěpán first appeared in public when he was 16, and two years later he played with the Czech Philharmonic under the direction of Rafael Kubelík . In 1971 and 1982 Supraphon was awarded with him as an interpreter with the Vienna Flute Clock . In 1976 he received the Supraphon gold record for the best recording of the year and the complete recording of Josef Suk's piano works .
