Pavel Schmidt (artist)

Pavel Schmidt (born April 19, 1956 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak-Swiss artist (drawings, objects).

Life

After a stay in Mexico , Schmidt came to Switzerland with his parents in 1968 , where he grew up first in Biel / Bienne (citizens of Biel / Bienne) and then in Solothurn . He studied chemistry in 1977/78 at the University of Bern, from 1978 to 1990 studies, assistant and professor at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. From 1989 to 1991 he headed Daniel Spoerri's class as an interim professor . He has been a freelance artist since 1991. Schmidt lives in Solothurn. In 1994 the first garden gnome explosion took place on the 55th anniversary of the beginning of World War II on the Westerplatte in Gdansk. Since then, over 20 more explosions have taken place.
