The Miele K 1 was the smallest car model from Miele & Cie. KG from Gütersloh . It was produced between April 1912 and February 1914. Other spellings of the model name were Miele K1 , Miele K.1 and Miele KI .
description
chassis
The chassis was a ladder frame that was tapered at the front and cranked up at the back . The axles were rigid and suspended on longitudinal leaf springs. The wheelbase was 2700 mm and the track width was 1300 mm.
engine
The vehicles had a four-cylinder , four-stroke , in- line engine installed in the front . 64.5 mm bore and 120 mm stroke resulted in 1568 cc displacement . The magneto ignition came from Bosch . The engine was cooled by a thermosiphon cooling . The engine output was specified with 20 hp . According to the rule valid at the time, the displacement corresponded to 6 tax horsepower . Therefore the model was also called 6/20 HP . There are indications that the engine initially made 17 hp and that the model was therefore also called 6/17 hp - however, the Miele delivery book does not confirm this information. In the period from 1913 to 1914, some vehicles received a slightly larger engine with 7 taxable horsepower and 22 horsepower.
Power transmission
A multi-plate clutch transferred the power to the gearbox. It had four forward and one reverse gears, was operated via a gate shift and propelled the rear wheels via a cardan shaft .
Top speed
The company stated the maximum speed of 60 to 70 km / h for the four-seater torpedo version.
body
There was a choice of two- and four-seat torpedoes , four-seat landaulets , four-seat limousines and two-seat delivery vans .

Reliability run 1912
A Miele vehicle took part in a three-day automobile rally under the protectorate of Prince Heinrich of Prussia in 1912 . It was a K 1 according to one source, while another source cites engine data that match K 2 and K 3. A source states that the launch was on June 11, 1912. Other sources cite July 11, 1912 as the start date or generally July 1912 as the month of the event. The journey led over 1,400 kilometers from Minden to Frankfurt am Main . Several sources believe that it was the Prinz-Heinrich-Fahrt , which took place for the last time in 1911. The vehicle took second place and only missed victory due to a flat tire.
Quantities
According to the Miele delivery book, 37 vehicles were built with the small engine and 6 vehicles with the large engine - possibly one more because the book lists a vehicle without a model name.
