Pavlína Kourková (born October 14, 1980 in Jihlava ) is a Czech landscape architect who is known as a painter and illustrator of botanical art.

Life

Kourková studied garden and landscape architecture at the Faculty of Agrobiology, Nutrition and Natural Resources of the Czech Agricultural University in Prague and the Netherlands at Wageningen University, and biology and healthy living at the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague. After graduating, she worked as a landscape architect for two years in England, Canterbury and Oxford and, on her return, also in the Czech Republic.

In 2007 she accompanied a scientific expedition as an illustrator and photographer to the Western Sahara and illustrated medicinal plants from the Saharawi. Since 2011 she has devoted herself to art, especially botanical art, among other things, she also took on many commissioned works, mainly related to herbal products.

She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) in England and Wales. In 2018 she was invited by the Russian Society of Botanical Artists (SABA) to an international exhibition of botanical art in Moscow , where she also led a master class. In 2019 her work was selected for a panel presentation on "Beyond Accuracy: Creating Art" at the ASBA Botanical Art Conference in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, United States). Her work was honored with an honorable mention at an international exhibition for botanical art in Seoul, South Korea in 2019.
