Pavel Matew

Pawel Christov Matew , Bulgarian Павел Христов Матев (born December 6, 1924 in Orisowo , † February 4, 2006 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian poet.

Life

Matew was born in 1924 as the son of a farmer. During the Second World War he was involved in the resistance against fascist forces. From 1945 to 1949 he studied Bulgarian Studies in Sofia. In 1966 he took over the role of chairman of the culture committee with the rank of minister, which he held until 1975.

He was awarded the Dimitrov Prize.

In his early work he processed his experiences from the Second World War; later he dealt with the then socialist society of Bulgaria.
