Orisowo ( Bulgarian Оризово ) is a village in southern Bulgaria . It is located in the municipality of Bratja Daskalowi , in the Stara Sagora Oblast . Until January 1, 1907, the village was called Tscheltuktschi (Bulgarian Челтукчи ).

location

Orisowo lies in the middle of the Thracian Plain . The neighboring villages are Plodowitowo, Tscherna gora, Granit and Opaltschenez. Bratja Daskalowi is 10 km further north, Belosem is 11 km further west and Tschirpan is 13 km further to the east.

North-east of Orisowo, three kilometers away, is the Orisowo Reservoir (Bulgarian Оризовски язовир ) - ( 42 ° 14 ′ 0 ″  N , 25 ° 12 ′ 0 ″  E ). At the lake (south-western shore of the northern dam) is a protected breeding ground for Pygmy , egrets , night herons and Rallenreiher .

Orisowo has a train station on the Sofia - Plovdiv - Orisowo - Stara Sagora - Burgas railway line . One kilometer south of the village is the Sofia - Burgas motorway ( Awtomagistrala A1 "Trakiya" ), from which the Awtomagistrala A3 "Mariza" branches off 5 km southeast of the village to the south, towards Turkey via the Kapitan Andreewo-Kapıkule border crossing .

history

To the east of the village is the archaeological excavation site of the Thracian village Ranilum. Ranilum was on the Roman road ( Via Militaris ): Constantinople (today Istanbul) - Adrianapolis (today Edirne) - Karasura (15 km east of Orisowo) - Philippolis (today Plovdiv) - Serdica (today Sofia) - Naissos (today Nis) - Singidunum (now Belgrade). The way stations in the area were Parembole (near Belosem; 27 km from Plovdiv), Ranilum (near Orisovo; 40 km from Plovdiv) and Cille (near Cherna gora). In the immediate vicinity of the Ranilum excavation site, 4 km northeast of Orisowo, lies the karst spring Chalka Bunar ( Халка Бунар ) - ( 42 ° 14 ′ 27 ″  N , 25 ° 13 ′ 8 ″  E ). There are numerous traces of Thracian settlement in the region. The prehistoric burial mound "Delinowanowa mogila" is three kilometers northeast of the village.

There are more burial mounds to the west, northwest and southwest of the village. The actual village of Orisowo was also built on a Thracian settlement. The necropolis of this 2000 year old former Thracian settlement is located in the present park of the village. A burial mound was converted into an ossuary .

Two finds are interesting: on the one hand from a horse burial with a fully preserved skeleton and iron bridle and on the other hand a buried horse's head.

In the historical museum of Stara Sagora , a Roman road column is exhibited, which was found in the vicinity of the village.

In the German translation, the name of the village is reminiscent of rice (Bulgarian ориз / oris = rice; compare: Oryza ). "Orisowo" in Bulgarian is synonymous with "rice" in compound words.

additional

The village holiday is September 23rd. The poet Pawel Matew ( Павел Матев ; 1924-2006) was born in Orisowo. The chitalishte of the village was founded in 1923.
