Pavel of Kolomna
Pavel of Kolomna , Paul of Kolomna or Pavel of Kolomna ( Russian Павел Коломенский , scientific. Transliteration Pavel Kolomenskij ; † April 6 . Jul / 16th April 1656 greg. ) Was a well-known Russian minister of the 17th century and is a martyr of Old Believers .
On October 17, 1652 he became Bishop of Kolomna . The reform activities of the Patriarch Nikon met with his opposition. In 1654 he was suspended from his episcopal office, exiled to the Paleostrovsk monastery on an island on Lake Onega and transferred to the Chutyn monastery near Novgorod in 1656 . There he is said to have been executed at the stake on April 16, 1656 .
