Peace One Day
Peace One Day (German: Ein Tag Weltfrieden ) is a movement that was initiated as a film project by British director Jeremy Gilley in 1999 . The aim of the project was to make September 21 a day on which there should be a ceasefire worldwide (" A day of global ceasefire and non-violence ").
The first goal was for the UN to declare the day an official World Day of Peace . This goal was achieved on September 7, 2001. Jeremy is currently ensuring that the day really world " ceasefire prevails" (ceasefire). He documented his endeavors in the film Peace One Day . The film also shows that it is possible as a single person to achieve something and change something with an idea.
The day is not only considered a utopian wish, but also represents a practical value. For example, aid organizations could move safely in war zones on the day.
Numerous different campaigns were implemented to raise awareness of the World Day of Peace. In 2012 Peace One Day designed the Peace Day Burger in collaboration with Burger King, Denny's, Wayback, Krystal and Giraffas, which was distributed to raise money for Peace One Day. In addition, Peace One Day organized several concerts in which they were supported by celebrities such as Dave Stewart , Annie Lennox and Angelina Jolie .
