Alexei Hajew
Alexei Hajew (usual transcription: Alexei Haieff , born August 25, 1914 in Blagoveschensk ; † March 1, 1994 ) was an American composer of Russian origin.
Hajew emigrated to the USA in 1931, where he studied at the Juilliard School of Music with Rubin Goldmark and Frederick Jacobi . He completed his training in Cambridge , Massachusetts , and in Fontainebleau with Nadia Boulanger . Since 1967 he has been composer-in-residence at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City .
He composed a ballet , three symphonies , a violin and a piano concerto, chamber music works and Slavic liturgical chants.
