Engelbert II , called the glorious (born May 17, 1451 in Breda , † May 31, 1504 in Brussels ), Lord of Breda, Diest , Roosendaal , Nispen and Wouw , was Count of Nassau-Breda from 1475 to 1504.

Engelbert was the eldest son of Count Johann IV of Nassau-Dillenburg from the House of Nassau , whom he inherited in 1475; since then he has called himself Count von Nassau-Dillenburg and Vianden , Lord of Breda. Since 1486 Engelbert II. Was governor of Flanders and governor of Lille, areas that had fallen to Habsburg a few years earlier through the Burgundian inheritance , but which were contested by France , so that the Habsburg emperor Frederick III. was dependent on a particularly devoted ruler of these areas. Apparently Engelbert did a good job, as in 1496 he was also appointed governor of the county of Holland . In doing so, he anticipated the later power of the House of Orange-Nassau in the region. Nevertheless Engelbert had to continue traditional interests in the middle and upper Rhine, it is why in January 1469, not yet 18 years of age, in Koblenz which also still very young Cimburga of Baden married. The marriage remained childless, however, and Engelbert left behind only two illegitimate children when he died in 1504, so that his brother Johann V took over his inheritance.

In 1473 he was accepted into the Burgundian Order of the Golden Fleece .
