Pedro Biava Ramponi
Pedro Biava Ramponi (born June 11, 1902 in Rome , † June 16, 1972 in Barranquilla ) was a Colombian composer .
Since 1911, at the instigation of his brother Angelo Biava , who was a musician in the Paris Symphony Orchestra, Biava attended the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia , where he studied clarinet, composition and orchestral conducting. After serving as a musician in an Italian infantry battalion, he emigrated to Colombia in 1926.
There he taught until his death as a professor at the Universidad del Atlántico and was a member of various orchestras from Barranquilla. From 1943 he directed the Orquesta Filarmónica , the Compañía de Ópera and the string quartet of the city's conservatory.
