Life

Peter Lerangis was born the grandson of Greek immigrants and grew up in Freeport , Long Island . While at school he became interested in theater and journalism, but in his own words opted for a "more decent" profession. He studied biochemistry at Harvard University in Massachusetts to later work as a medical doctor . After completing his studies, he tried again to reorient himself and enrolled in a law school . He also dropped this project again at short notice. After a brief stint as a waiter on Nantucket , he began an acting career in 1979 in theater and musicals on Broadway .

During his engagement on various stages Lerangis also worked as an editor and thus rediscovered his interest in writing. Since 1987 he has been working as a freelance writer. He has published various detective novels and thrillers for young people. Lerangis wrote 43 volumes of the Baby-Sitters Club series and launched the Watchers series . He had particular success with book adaptations of famous films. He wrote the books for the films The Sixth Sense and Sleepy Hollow .

By the author William McCay 1989 he received the opportunity to a sequence for youth crime series Crime Busters, an offshoot of The Three Investigators ( The three ??? writing). The book, entitled Foul Play , was published in 1990. A second episode ( Brain Wash ), which he wrote for the series, remained a manuscript for the time being because the series was discontinued in the USA. In April 2010, Lerangis announced on its website that Brain Wash would be published in Germany in spring 2011.

In 2003, Peter Lerangis was, alongside RL Stine and Marc Brown, one of three authors who, at the invitation of the White House, represented the USA at the 1st Russian Book Festival. In 2006 Lerangis won several awards for his book Smiler's Bones .
