Pedro Cateriano

Pedro Álvaro Cateriano Bellido (born June 26, 1958 in Lima , Peru ) is a Peruvian politician of the Partido Nacionalista Peruano .

Life

Cateriano studied law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and at the Complutense University of Madrid . Cateriano works as a lawyer in Peru. From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Congress of the Republic of Peru . From July 24, 2012 to April 2, 2015, Cateriano was Peruvian Minister of Defense, succeeding Jose Urquizo Maggia . As successor to Ana Jara , Cateriano was Prime Minister from April 2, 2015 to July 28, 2016. Since July 15, 2020, he has been Prime Minister again. On August 3, 2020, less than three weeks later, the Congress of the Republic of Peru refused to approve Cateriano and his new cabinet, which forced the latter to resign.
