Peeter Allik
Peeter Allik (born June 28, 1966 in Põltsamaa ; † December 31, 2019 ) was an Estonian surrealist graphic artist and artist.
Training and work
Allik studied from 1987 to 1993 at the Tartu Kunstikool , the University of Tartu and the Estonian Academy of Art . He graduated from the University of Tartu in 1993.
He worked as an independent artist from 1994 to 2001. From 2001 to 2004 he was head of the painting and graphics department at the Academia Non Grata . From 2005 he was a lecturer in painting at the Tartu Art Academy.
Peeter Allik was a founding member of the Kursi School, an artist group that opposes the official art model in Estonia. He began to exhibit his surrealist oil paintings, which were created in the second half of the 1980s, in the artist group. As a graphic artist and painter, he was also active in the neo-pop movement in the early 1990s . His work often shows a grotesque sense of a displaced reality.
