The Städtische Galerie Bietigheim-Bissingen is an art museum for modern and contemporary art . Mainly graphic works are collected. Isabell Schenk-Weininger is the director of the gallery .

History of the museum

In 1989 the Städtische Galerie was founded as part of the city's 1200th anniversary. It consists of two parts of the building, a historic grain barn and a contemporary extension.

The barn was converted by the local architect Gert Bechtle to meet the requirements of a modern exhibition business. This is followed by the strictly functional extension building. This was built under the direction of Hans Kammerer according to the design by Gert Bechtle and opened in 2000. Following the example of the white cube, the rooms are kept entirely in white and extend over an exhibition area of approx. 1000 m². The in-house collection, consisting primarily of high-pressure graphic works as well as regional art, is shown in the historical part of the museum, while the temporary exhibitions are presented in the new building.
