Peeter Hoppe

Peeter Hoppe (born October 25, 1960 in Tartu ) is a former Estonian brigadier general .

Life

Peeter Hoppe was born in 1960 in Tartu, the second largest city of the then Estonian SSR in the southeast of the country . After graduating from school, he attended Tallinn University of Technology from 1978 , where he also graduated in 1983.

Military career

After Estonia regained its independence, Hoppe joined the country's reconstruction forces in 1993 . After his officer training, he then worked for the Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion. From 2002 to 2005 he was Chief of Staff and Acting Commander of the Estonian Army . After Riho Terras was promoted to military commander of the armed forces in December 2011, Hoppe followed him to his previous post of chief of staff of the armed forces.

In February 2013 he was promoted to brigadier general. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the NATO Allied Joint Force Command in the Netherlands . On August 9, 2016, Hoppe retired from active service and was transferred to the reserve.
