LevelAlarm is a global water information and flood warning service that was published as an app (fee-based), web application and REST API.
technology
Area covered
LevelAlarm automatically collects water data (such as water level , discharge ) and provides the current data via the web, app and voice assistant. In addition, a high and low water warning is enabled. As of October 2019, the system contains over 15,000 water points from the following countries: Austria , Germany , Great Britain , USA , Switzerland , Slovakia , Slovenia , Italy , Ireland and along the entire Danube . The data is continuously collected and processed from over 45 data sources such as authorities and offices of states, federal states, municipalities, emergency organizations and companies.
Warning system
System users can activate individual warning limits for water bodies. If this warning limit is reached, you will receive information.
platform
The system is available on several platforms:
- As an app for iOS , Android and Windows : The warning is given by means of push messages.
- On a website: The warning is given via SMS messages.
- Current water levels can be called up using voice commands in the Amazon Echo Alexa skill .
Classification
The risk levels are classified according to the local frequency of the flood . A distinction is made in 3 groups: no high water, pre-alarm limit and alarm limit. As a support, the pre-alarm limits and alarm limits are shown in the system with the colors green, yellow and red.
API
The level alarm REST API offers programmable read and write access to level alarm data. This enables emergency organizations and companies to integrate data into their own systems.

LevelAlarm is operated by the Austrian company SOBOS GmbH and was awarded the World Summit Award 2017 , among other things .
