Peggy Richter (* 19th March 1973 in Finsterwalde , married Peggy Hampel ) is a former East German national player in badminton .

Life

It was continuously built up by her coach at the Heimatverein in Tröbitz , Jens Scheithauer , and won 21 medals at GDR championships in the junior age classes from 1984 to 1990. She was still successful against her long-term rival, the later all-German champion Katja Michalowsky, until she was a junior. At the last GDR junior championships in 1990, however, she was defeated by the Greifswald woman in the final, but she was harmless with another silver medal in women's doubles and gold in mixed. Due to the performances shown at the junior championships in 1989 and 1990, she became one of the last badminton national players in the GDR among adults in 1990. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she stepped down in the sporting field due to her training and work.

Peggy Hampel lives today with her husband, her long-time Tröbitzer teammate Marcus Hampel, in Osterhofen .
