Peles Empire

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peles Empire is the name of an artist group that has been working together since 2005 and creating works of art mainly based on the Romanian Peleș Castle , which is located in Sinaia in the Carpathian Mountains and was designed in a historicizing style. In their sculptures and installations, they partially reconstruct, reproduce, copy and collage the interior of the palace with the help of photographs. The group consists of Barbara Wolff (* 1980, Făgăraș , Romania) and Katharina Stöver (* 1982, Gießen ) and formerly the British chef Marc Cohen (* 1984).

Wolff and Stöver studied art at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in the classes of Wolfgang Tillmans , Michael Krebber and Hermann Nitsch and also at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

The work of the collective is represented by the Berlin gallery Wentrup.
