Peel the police car
Pelle the Police Car ( Bokmål : Pelle Politibil) is a fictional character in the form of a VW Beetle (Type 1) from Norway . Policeman Åge Magnussen conceived them as a means of road safety education for children in the mid-1980s. Pelle made his first appearance in 1986 on the radio at NRK in the program Die Kinderstunde für die Kleinsten (Barnetimen for de minste). A well-known TV series followed in 1993 and three cinema-length films between 2002 and 2013. The original Beetle also toured Norway, where more than 100,000 children and adults could marvel at it. Today Pelle is standing in front of the police station in Bodø . There are fixed dates on which interested individuals as well as kindergarten and school classes can visit Pelle and experience it up close.

The last film was awarded the Amanda Prize for the best children's and youth film in 2013 . In addition to media productions, there are a number of Pelle merchandise products as well as several board games. In 2003 one was nominated for Game of the Year by the Norwegian Games and Multimedia Association (Norsk spill-og multimediaforening, NSM).
