The Peltier Channel ( French Chenal Peltier ) is a 10 km long strait with northeast-southwest orientation west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Palmer Archipelago , it separates the Doumer Island from the Wiencke Island .
The channel was discovered during the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903–1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . He named it after the French physicist Jean Peltier (1785–1845).
