The Penguin Lagoon ( English for penguin lagoon ) is a 200 m wide and 120 m long lagoon on the east side of Inexpressible Island off the Scott coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located 500 m south of the winter camp of the Northern Group around Victor Campbell during the Terra Nova Expedition (1910–1913) of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott .
Vittorio Libera named the lagoon in the course of an Italian Antarctic expedition that ran from 1988 to 1989. It is named after a colony of Adelie penguins located here .
