Penny Jamieson

Penelope "Penny" Ann Bansall Jamieson , DNZM (born June 21, 1942 in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire , England ) is an Anglican bishop of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia .

Life

After finishing school, Jamieson studied linguistics at the University of Edinburgh in England. She then moved to New Zealand , where she worked in the Wellington inner-city mission. She studied Anglican theology at Victoria University of Wellington , where she obtained a doctorate in theology. In 1983 Jamieson was ordained an Anglican priestess. From 1990 to 2004 Jamieson was the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Dunedin in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia . After Bishop Barbara Clementine Harris , Jamieson was the second woman bishop in the Anglican church world. In 2008, Victoria Matthews followed as Anglican Bishop in New Zealand in the Diocese of Christchurch in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.

Jamieson is married to the teacher Jan Jamieson; her husband is from New Zealand.
