action

Matthew Smudge calls his wife and informs her that he has invited his boss and a colleague to dinner. Chloe goes into the kitchen to let the cook know. But she only finds one note. The cook quit because of the too high demands. Now Chloe tries to create a dinner herself.

After an hour, Chloe has burned the roast beef, buried the house dog in the bread dough, and turned the kitchen into a battlefield. The narrator asks Chloe where the phone is. He wants to call Prudence Penny, a columnist for the Los Angeles Examiner . 35 minutes before the expected arrival of the husband and his guests, Penny shows the doubting and desperate Chloe how to put together a complete and delicious meal.

Dinner will be ready just in time for Mr. Smudge and his guests to arrive. The narrator whispers in Mr. Smudge's ear that the cook quit that morning. Knowing about his wife's cooking skills, Mr. Smudge fears disaster. However, the quality of the meal surprised him. The narrator informs that the crash course cost $ 2.83. Meanwhile, Penny secretly leaves the house while the narrator is cheating on Mr. Smudge. He tells him Chloe finished dinner on her own. Chloe nods, of course, while the dog seems to have other thoughts.
