Pentagon memorial
The Pentagon Memorial is a memorial dedicated to the 184 people who died in the building and on American Airlines Flight 77 in the September 11, 2001 attacks . It is located southwest of the Pentagon in Arlington , United States.
The memorial was designed by Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman of Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies architectural firm.
Inauguration ceremony
The memorial was inaugurated on September 11, 2008 by US President George W. Bush . More than 20,000 people attended the ceremony, including Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen and former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert M. Gates . The memorial was opened to the public at 7 p.m. with a separate ceremony.
