Pentapeptide Repeat

The pentapeptide repeat (in German ' pentapeptide repeat ') is a sequence motif in some proteins .

properties

The Pentapeptide Repeat consists of repeating units of the amino acid sequence Ala - Asp / Asn - Leu and any two amino acids (A (D / N) LXX for short). The function is so far unknown, the Pentapeptide Repeat is possibly a protein-based structural analogue of DNA . Some proteins with a pentapeptide repeat are constructed as a β-helix with an approximately square cross-section.
