The Pentland Skerries ( Old Norse : Pettlandssker ) are a group of four uninhabited islands in the Pentland Firth with a total area of ​​around 50 hectares . It is the southernmost of the Orkney Islands in northeast Scotland . The Skerries are about seven kilometers northeast of the mainland tip of Duncansby Head and five kilometers south of the inhabited island of South Ronaldsay .

The Pentland Skerries lighthouse is located on Muckle Skerry , which is by far the largest of the four islands at just under 50 hectares . the other islands are Little Skerry (three hectares, with the wreck of the trawler "Ben Barvas"), Louther Skerry (0.3 hectares, with the wreck of the Medea) and Clettack Skerry (0.3 hectares, with the wreck of the Hms Fiona ).

Little Skerry is the southernmost island in the Orkney Islands.
