Peppino Turco
Giuseppe “Peppino” Turco (born March 7, 1846 in Naples , † October 14, 1903 there ) was an Italian journalist, poet and lyricist.
Turco wrote for newspapers and magazines in Naples and Rome, such as the satirical paper Capitan Fracassa . But he became famous for his folk lyrics in the Neapolitan dialect. The fruit of his collaboration with Luigi Denza in the thermal baths of Castellammare di Stabia in the summer of 1880 was the song Funiculì, Funiculà , which sparked a wave of internationally successful Neapolitan songs. Turco also wrote the lyrics for 'O telefono , Uocchie nire , Taranti, tarantella , Capille nire and Vocca' e rosa .
