Per Pinstrup-Andersen

Per Pinstrup-Andersen (born April 7, 1939 in Bislev ) is a Danish agricultural economist . He is a professor at Cornell University .

Life

Pinstrup-Andersen studied agricultural economics at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University ( BS , 1965) and at Oklahoma State University ( MS , 1967, Ph.D. , 1969). From 1969 to 1976 he worked at the CIAT . From 1977 to 1980 he was at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. From 1980 to 1987 he worked at IFPRI , of which he was director between 1992 and 2002. From 1987 to 1992 he taught at Cornell. Since 2003 he has been a professor at the Royal Veterinary and Agriculture College and at Cornell.

Pinstrup-Andersen holds five honorary doctorates and won the World Food Prize in 2001 for his contributions to agricultural research, food policy and the lives of the poor.

Pinstrup-Andersen's research areas include food policy, research and technology policy, and globalization and nutrition. He has published over 400 books, articles, and book chapters.
