Percy Hugh Beverley Lyon
Percy Hugh Beverley Lyon ( 1893 - 1986 ) was a British school principal and writer. During World War I he served as a lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry and received a Military Cross for his bravery. Nevertheless, he got into German captivity, where he saw the end of the war.
Lyon, who had studied at Oriel College at Oxford University , had already published poetry in the magazine Oxford Poetry between 1910 and 1914 . In 1918 he was awarded the Newdigate Prize for his poem France . In the 1920s, Lyon published poetry in a number of magazines such as the London Mercury , The Oxford Magazine , The Spectator and the Westminster Gazette .
Lyon was director of the rugby school from 1931 to 1948 .
