Perieres (charioteer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Perieres ( Greek  Περιήρης ) is in Greek mythology the charioteer of Menoikeus of Thebes and the father of Boros . In the library of Apollodorus he is wrongly referred to as the father of Polydora , who was the daughter of Peleus and Antigone .

After hunting the Calydonian boar , Perieres accidentally injured Clymenus , the king of Orchomenus , by throwing a stone, who eventually died of the wound. Therefore the Thebans committed themselves to pay tribute to the Minyans for 100 cattle annually for 20 years. Heracles stopped these payments, opposed the Minyans and their leader Erginos and defeated them in battle.
